36 Weeks (just a teaser)

This week, I will catch up on Baby Schab updates... 36 weeks! I am feeling great overall, but definitely slowing down a bit. More to come soon!

My friend Kim sent me this photo recently of Rob and I and thought it was way too cute not to post. This was from her beautiful wedding in June 2010 and about two months before we found out our family would be expanding next spring. I love my husband!

A Very Buggy Baby Shower!

Click here to view these pictures larger

Well, my family and friends did it again! Back in February, I received an email from my good friend asking me to save the date for a jewelry party she was hosting on 3/19. I RSVP'd yes, but I thought it was kind of odd that my other friend kept making sure I was going. A week after the email, the same girls asked I was free on 3/12 to do some shopping at our favorite shops- which I quickly said 'yes' and became very excited for. Little did I know, our girls day of shopping was really a baby shower planned by family and friends. If anything, I thought maybe the 3/19 jewelry party was potentially the shower, but definitely not the 3/12 shopping trip.

The shower was absolutely beautiful and definitely carried the Lady Bug theme well! As shown in all of the photos- there was a lot of creativity behind the decorations, cake, games, food, etc. Baby Schab is so incredibly spoiled and I feel truly blessed to have the best family and friends in the entire world! Enjoy the slide show :-)

Rob's turn!

After four surprise showers for me, Rob was very, very over due for his turn! Last week, I received a facebook message from one of his co-workers asking if I could come out for a surprise baby shower they were throwing for him. I was beyond excited and immediately said yes! After speaking with my boss and re-arranging my schedule, I made the trip out to Gettysburg to participate in the festivities. Rob was very surprised to see me and his co-workers threw such a wonderful shower for him! The cake was super cute and we received some very nice gifts. I let Rob open all of the gifts (hey- I had my turn already) and I was able to capture some cute photos of him in action. They even decorated his work station and office area.

A very 'buggy' shower

Due to the fact my Mom has over 100+ photos from the shower she threw with my friends on her camera, I need to download them before I post the blog. More to come real soon!

Teaser.... surprise baby shower hosted by family and friends

Not Your Usual Day at Work

My co-workers pulled a fast one on me...they got me good! Little did I know a lot of sneaky behavior was being conducted behind my back. My co-workers (who are also some of my dear friends) threw me a surprise baby shower completed with lots of food, games, gifts and cake! The scene: my one co worker, Jolynn, asked me to meet with her to discuss some events we have been working on since February. While I met with her (across campus), the plot/surprise shower was unfolding in our conference room. Several of my co workers from my department decorated the room, brought in food, gifts and even red velvet cake (my favorite!) We even played the game "how big is Kristin's belly" where they had to cut ribbon of how "wide" they thought I was...one of my male senior officers actually won!

Some funny "behind the scenes moments" leading up to the shower....

Jolynn, the co-worker who met with me prior to the shower, had called over to our offices to inform them I was on my way back to my office. During this time, about 20+ people were in the conference room hiding with the door closed and the lights off. When I walked down the hall to my office, my co worker Jessie told me that we were allowed to eat the leftovers from an earlier meeting in the conference room (not uncommon for us), but I wasn't really hungry. "No, thanks," I said. So there I sat- in my office, checking emailing, making a bathroom trip all while my poor students and co workers were still hiding out in the conference room in the dark. From where my office was positioned, they could see me, but I couldn't see them. While I was in the bathroom, Jolynn, drove over so she could be there for the party. Since I was still in the bathroom, she didn't want to blow the surprise and ended up hiding under Jessie's desk to wait it out as Jessie sat there trying to play it cool when I went into her office to chat. The things we do for friends! Jessie finnnalllly got me to go into the conference room where I was greeted by some hungry and very patient co workers!

Memory Lane...

Not sure if it is the hormones or the fact we are getting close to her arrival, but I find myself having sentimental moments throughout the weeks. I find myself looking through old photos and reminiscing about life in general. Just wanted to add a few random, but fun photos I have come across while traveling down memory lane...

Long Island Weekend Surprises

This past weekend Rob and I traveled to Long Island for his Grandmother's 80th birthday celebrations....or so I thought! Sneaky, sneaky. The weekend plans included two birthday parties in her honor- one on Saturday at Aunt Linda's house and a brunch on Sunday for immediate family. Well, Rob's Mom pulled a fast one and planned a beautiful baby shower for me on Saturday. The shower was AMAZING and I was truly blown away and a bit overwhelmed when they yelled surprise.

Rob and I couldn't believe how many wonderful baby gifts we received when we packed the car on Sunday afternoon. From the cute decorations, to the delicious food, to the adorable cupcakes/favors the future Aunt Danielle made and the overall amazing hospitality provided by Aunt Linda, I was on Cloud 9 for the remainder of the weekend and it was hard to be back at work on Monday after being so spoiled. I am so truly blessed to have amazing in-laws and the best extended family members. Find photos from the shower below. The last photo is from the 80th birthday brunch on Sunday (that DID turn out to be real).

It's No Use Crying Over Spilled Milk...

32 Weeks
I can't really say I have a lot to update on. I feel wonderful, baby classes are going well and Baby Schab is constantly moving around during all hours of the day. I can feel her movements intensify at times and I do feel as if I can feel her elbow or foot poking my side or rib cage. Total weight gain (admit it, you're nosey) = 18-20lbs.

A funny pregnancy story to share and it will forever live on as a classic for many of my co-workers...

Last Friday afternoon, I was meeting with my boss in his office at the end of the day to discuss my travel plans. I had a few work trips lined up and I was giving him the play by play of what I had to accomplish the following week. We must have been chatting for about fifteen minutes when two of my co-workers appeared at his door. We all started joking around and telling fun stories. I must have gone to say something when my hand scraped up against my shirt. That's funny I thought, I feel all wet. Well, I looked down and saw TWO huge wet marks below my left "boob". Basically, it appeared as if a water balloon exploded in my bra and I had two huge marks to prove it. "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh," I exclaimed as I ran out of the room. Did my boss notice? My co-worker Jessie asked what was wrong and I pointed to my shirt as I ran down the hallway to the ladies bathroom. A few minutes later she entered to check on me and told me that my boss DID notice. I was apparently leaking the whole time and he felt "uneasy" about pointing out the mark because he didn't want it to seem he was looking at that part of my body. Jessie ran downstairs and found an alumni t-shirt for me to wear for the remainder of the day. Believe it or not, I took everything in positive stride. I even went into my boss after I changed and thanked him for letting me talk for a whole fifteen minutes while looking like an idiot. :-)
It proved to be a very funny story for the rest of my curious co-workers who heard me shriek. Just an update, I have been wearing "padded inserts" to avoid future floods in my bra.
