Happy Memorial Day!

Mohawk Woman!

Love at first sight...

This past weekend, Ashleigh got to meet her future husband! The day I found out I was having a girl, Rob and I pre-arranged a marriage between her and Collin (our good friends Jaclyn and Mike's baby) who was born in November. Ashleigh was a bit shy and uninterested, but we know their love will only grow within time. Collin was too cute and would squeal when we put them close together! He also tried giving her hugs as well. I look forward to upcoming trips with the special couple!

One Month Update

Here are some stats from Ashleigh's one month check-up appointment.
4/18/11 Birth Weight: 7lbs 9oz and she was 19 1/2 in
4/20/11 Discharge Weight: 6lbs 12 oz
4/22/11 Weight: 7lb 2 oz
4/25/11 One Week Appointment Weight: 7lbs 7 oz
5/23/11 (One Month Appointment) Weight: 9lbs Length: 21 1/2 in

I can't believe how quick time has flown (once again) and that Ashleigh is one month already! To say I am head over heels in love with her is an understatement. I am starting to feel this amazing bond and connection with her.

During her one month check up she had to get another shot (she cried and so did I)! However, in good news, she can finally go out to public places, which means lots and lots of shopping!!! She is an amazing shopper and usually will just fall asleep or look around in her car seat. I tell her during every trip that Mamma has her credit card and she can buy whatever she wants! Since I wasn't allowed to take her out that much, I feel this new sense of FREEDOM (and so does my VISA). Thank god I will eventually go back to work because I get a bit carried away during my trips out. I have also treated myself to some new clothes as well since I couldn't buy anything for the past ten months. I am enjoying every minute I am with her because I know I our special time together will be different once I go back to work.

Sweet Memories...

August 12, 2010
A night that would change our lives forever...

A little bit of old, a little bit of new...

So let me start off by saying Rob and I recently got a new computer (after many years of hand me downs from his work). About one week before Ashleigh arrived our previous computer wouldn't turn on. Soooo Rob upgraded to another MAC with a lot of bells and whistles (and other things that I'm still trying to figure out).

In good news, I now have access to a lot of his videos/photos so beware... I will be posting a lot of new updates (some old and some new)!

Life Can Be So Hard Sometimes!

We can't be perfect all of the time!

"before"
"and after...."

One Month

On May 18th, my baby girl turned one month! I can hardly believe how quick time has gone by. It is also fun to look back and see how far Rob and I have come as parents. I remember the second day home from the hospital, I was terrified to put her down. I felt as if I would constantly have to hold her in fear something would happen. Rob and I would take turns getting things done around the house while the other person would hold her. I also laugh at how protective I was at first with her around the dogs. I even kicked them out of the bedroom each night during the first week she was here. It turns out, everyone is getting along quite famously. Miss Lexi has taken quite a liking to Ashleigh and they are the best of buds. Lexi could be down in the basement and hear her crying in her nursery and sprint up two flights of stairs to "make sure she is ok." Lexi just absolutely adores her!

I don't want to come off as a bragging Mom...BUT I really do feel like I have the perfect daughter. She doesn't cry that often (only when she is hungry...takes after her mother and sometimes during bath time), she can sleep up to 3 1/2 hours at a time and is cute as a button. Rob and I feel like the luckiest people to have her in our lives. Although he doesn't quite agree, I am so ready for Baby #2. LOL I know we will obviously wait and cherish every moment with Ashleigh now, but I just love her so much, I want another one just like her!!!

Susie Homemaker (my new name name from Rob)
If you would have asked me a few months ago if I could ever be a stay home Mom, I would have said, yeah right. Well....a baby can certainly change your view on that. Realistically, I know we can't afford to have me not work, but the thought of returning to work makes me very upset and I actually cry just thinking of that. I have also become quite anal about keeping the house clean. In a weird way, I feel that is my "new job" so I have become an even bigger control freak around the house and get even more upset when items are out of place. I fiinnnnally see what my Mom went through all these years with my sister and I. "Girls, I spent all day cleaning and you just come in from school and toss your book bags/other items all over the house." Sorry Mom (when you are reading this...I am finally getting paid back!)

Overall, the first month was fantastic! We are 110% in love and I feel more confident in my mommy skills, although I still worry about everything! I do finally allow myself to sleep -the first week I would literally stay up at night and make sure she was breathing every minute. I look forward to what the next month will bring for the new and improved Schab Family!

Updated Projects

A few updated projects around the house for Miss Ashleigh...
A HUGE thank you to Grammy Summers who spent 3+ hours putting up the shelves in her nursery. Also, a big thank you to Nana Schab who made her adorable bookends on her dresser!

Megan's Graduation

This past weekend was amazing and filled with lots of fun and family! We got to celebrate Megan's graduation (Rob's cousin) from York College! For those counting, that would make a total of seven family members between the Summers and Schab families who graduated from YCP. We are hoping Ashleigh follows in our footsteps...no pressure! :-)

We enjoyed a delicious luncheon at White Rose followed by dessert at our place. It was so wonderful celebrating Megan's big day and having family members meet Ashleigh for the first time! Since we took so many photos that night, I will create a slide show in another post.

Bath Time Part II

So we tried giving Ashleigh a bath in her "real tub"...didn't go 'as planned'!

Happy 1st Mother's Day!

I had a fantastic first Mother's Day! I received lovely flowers and cards from the husband and all three girls. Rob was adorable and gave me two cards (one from Porscha and Lexi) and the other one he "wrote from Ashleigh." Too cute!!! I spent the day with my family and we had a great afternoon!

It's Race Day! YCP Employee 5K

Two weeks prior to Ashleigh's arrival, Rob and I joined my lovely co-workers for a weekend BBQ. Over dinner, my co-workers convinced Rob to run with them in the YCP Employee 5K taking place in early May. Later that evening, I asked Rob if we was "serious" about running. You are talking about someone who never works out/runs and almost passed out in Aruba after running on the treadmill for 15 minutes. Well, not only was he serious, but he kicked major butt! Not only did he beat all of my co-workers (who train for these races), but he came in 7th place with a time of 25 minutes! He totally surprised me and I felt terrible for under estimating my husband :-) Ashleigh and I participated by walking some of the course and greeting daddy at the finish line.
